Abstract
Workplace violence in healthcare is increasing, with nursing staff experiencing a five-fold increase in violence relative to other workers. Healthcare technology duress use cases improve safety. Real Time Location Services (RTLS) can be used to signal for help in a duress event. Mayo Clinic’s HID enabled RTLS infrastructure was leveraged to roll out staff duress to over 7000 hospital nursing and inpatient staff members to provide duress services. RTLS activations added tangible benefits in allowing staff to signal and report duress events in the healthcare setting.
