IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global network of IEEE members and volunteers dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists. It is one of the world’s leaders in changing the face of engineering. There are 900+ IEEE, WIE affinity group world-wide in 100+ countries. It connects more than 20,000 members in over 100 countries to advance women in technology at all points in their life and career. Mainly, it inspires budding girls around the world to follow their academic interests in a career in engineering and science. IEEE WIE members make lifelong friendships, acquire influential mentors, and make a difference for the benefit of humanity. Worldwide, women remain underrepresented in the STEM workforce and gender bias persists hence IEEE GRSS wants to encourage professional development of women in GRSS, and it strives to raise awareness and engage the GRSS community through Women Mentoring Women (WMW) program. They advocate women in leadership roles in IEEE governance and career advancement for women in the profession.
One of the WIE goals is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines globally. It envisages a vibrant community of IEEE women and men collectively using their diverse talents to innovate for the benefit of humanity.
