Grand Challenge Chairs

The 2025 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP) invites proposals for Grand Challenges addressing problems that will engage and excite the image and video processing research community.

We strongly encourage proposals for Grand Challenges on innovative and groundbreaking topics related to generative AI for imaging. Contributions in all areas of image and video processing, imaging systems, pattern recognition and computer vision are also welcome. We encourage Grand Challenge proposers to interact and get the support of interested industry partners or major university research labs that may sponsor such challenges (though a sponsorship is not required).

ICIP 2025 will organize a Grand Challenge special session featuring an overview of the selected challenges and a presentation by the winning team from each challenge. The winning teams from the selected challenges are highly encouraged to submit a paper describing their work (optional). The submitted papers will undergo normal review, and if accepted, these will be included in ICIP 2025 Conference Proceedings.

A Grand Challenge proposal must contain the following:

• Grand Challenge title
• Grand Challenge organizers
• Brief introduction of the Challenge
• Significance of the Challenge
• Rules for participation
• Criteria of judging a submission
• Data sets to be used
• Relevant dates (e.g., submission deadline, data available, and winner announcement)
• Grand Challenge winners will be announced during the dedicated special session at the conference. The Grand Challenge Paper submission deadline is March 19, 2025.
• Sponsorship, if any

All who submitted grand challenge session proposals will be informed of the decisions of the technical program chairs of ICIP 2025 by email on Tuesday, May 20 2025.
